BRILLIANT JAYDEN STORMS TO VICTORY IN THE LIPHOOK JUNIOR OPEN

Jayden Tucknott stormed to victory in the Junior Open at magnificent Liphook Golf Club today with a stunning four under par 67 gross to win by 7 shots. The junior open is one of the flagship events on the Hampshire Junior tour attracting a high quality field and the opportunity for some of the most talented players in the south to test themselves on one of the best courses in the country.

After a steady start Jayden made a double bogey on the 4th, the toughest hole on the course, before bouncing back with three birdies in a row reaching the turn in level par.

Then on the back nine the fireworks came.

After making steady pars on the first four holes he holed out for a brilliant eagle two on the short par four 15th and then finished in style making birdies on the 17th and 18th to come back in 32, four under par.

It was quite simply a brilliant round of golf and to do it on a course of the stature of Liphook underlines the quality and talent of the hardest working golfer on the Island. His performance will also send an early season reminder to Island Captain Dave Jeffrey that Jayden on this form is one of the top players in Guernsey.

It was also a very good day for Junior Captain Lewis Marley who came third with a very creditable 77 gross which included a brilliant two under par back nine. Tanner Austin was 6th and Noah Davy 17th.

The boys are back in action tomorrow on another Top 100 UK course for the Effingham Junior Open in Surrey.

A big thank you to our junior section travel sponsor White Star Capital for their great support.
